Large chocolate slabs feature a bigger packaging perimeter, which raises risks of incomplete sealing and edge cracks compared with small confectionery packs. Temperature and humidity fluctuation in food workshops can weaken heat-sealing performance of packaging films, resulting in cocoa butter bloom and flavor loss that fail food storage requirements. Position misalignment of large slabs during high-speed production often leads to misaligned sealing edges.
The large chocolate slab packaging machine adopts an enlarged heat-sealing module with 8–12 mm sealing width. Adjustable heat temperature ranges from 110℃ to 160℃, compatible with BOPP composite film and aluminum foil laminated food film. The machine applies segmented thermal pressing on long and short edges separately to reduce uneven heating. Offline air tightness inspection can be deployed to check sealing integrity according to food packaging standards.
Buyers need to verify the maximum slab dimension compatibility, normally 150–450 mm in width and 10–35 mm in thickness. Workshops should keep relative humidity ≤65%RH to prevent film moisture absorption. Independent pressure adjustment for four sides avoids insufficient pressure and weak seals. Matching slab size, film type and thermal parameters helps reduce sealing failure and meet food storage requirements.
In mass production of slab chocolate, unplanned shutdowns are commonly caused by slab position deviation, intermittent transmission jamming and unsynchronized film traction. Heavy large chocolate blocks tend to shift on conveyors and trigger safety stops, interrupting production cycles and lowering effective working hours.
The packaging machine uses servo positioning structure. Adjustable mechanical limiting baffles control slab lateral offset within ±1.5 mm. Synchronous belt and geared motor system allows up to 8-hour continuous operation, suitable for two-shift food production. Constant film tension control reduces film stretch and downtime during film roll change. Integrated sensors provide early warning for missing material or film breakage to prevent sudden failures.
Factories shall check the load limit of conveyor platform before purchase. Operators regularly clean guide rollers and baffles to remove cocoa grease residue. Precise positioning and constant film tension help cut unplanned stops and support continuous slab chocolate manufacturing.
Cocoa butter in chocolate is sensitive to moisture. Tiny gaps along sealing edges allow ambient water vapor to enter packages, triggering sugar bloom and flavor degradation. Longer sealing seams of large slabs bring higher requirements on sealing structure for moisture and aroma barrier.
The machine adopts double-layer thermal pressing with corrugated texture on sealing edges to increase film contact area. It supports aluminum foil composite film with inherent vapor barrier property. Heat sealing pressure can be set from 0.2–0.5MPa under controlled temperature. Water vapor transmission test can be performed to evaluate barrier performance. It fits slab sizes from 120–480 mm for multiple chocolate recipes.
Film rolls should be stored under humidity ≤60%RH to avoid pre-absorption of moisture. Stack load of finished chocolate packs must be limited to prevent edge tearing. Proper film selection and sealing structure build stable barrier layers, minimizing water vapor ingress and preserving original chocolate flavor.
